On August 21, 2023, USCIS launched a new online form for individuals, attorneys, and accredited representatives to request an in-person appointment for certain customer service-related appointment requests, such as ADIT stamp or emergency advanced parole, at their local field office without having to call the USCIS Contact Center.

This impressive move is part of a grand plan to enhance the experience while reducing wait times, which doesn’t sound much like USCIS.

With the new tool, you can visit my.uscis.gov/appointment to submit a request for a specific date, time, and type of appointment with their local field office. Before you get excited, submitting a request does not guarantee an appointment for the preferred date or time requested. The Contact Center will review and validate each request before confirming the appointment date and time. Considering how the old tool for scheduling infopass appointments required you use automated software or have someone sitting at a computer all day refreshing the webpage every 3 minutes, I don’t expect this to work as smoothly as their announcement suggests.

Individuals, attorneys, and accredited representatives will still have the option to call the USCIS Contact Center to request an appointment if they enjoy waiting on hold and they don’t work at an office where another name might be on the G-28. USCIS strongly encourages users to use the new online appointment request form to improve their overall customer experience according to their email announcement. They also promise that, “using the online appointment request form will save time, increase efficiency, and reduce call volume to the USCIS Contact Center.”
